Top Trending: 13 Year Old Gambled for Hours at PA Casino, Valley Forge Casino Resort Fined
Harrisburg ABC affiliate WHTM is reporting that a Pennsylvania commonwealth casino has been fined for allowing a 13-year-old to gamble on the property for hours. Scroll down for all the latest gambling headlines from around the globe and the top trending gambling articles at Gambling911.com
The boy, whose identity remains confidential, was able to play the slots for real money over an extended period of time at Valley Forge Casino Resort in Montgomery County in November of last year, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
Consent agreement documents approved on Wednesday detail that the boy was with his father, and they were staying at the casino. The boy entered the gaming floor with his father by using his father’s identification.
Documents show the 13-year-old was with his father the majority of the time, inserting funds into slot machines, gaming and cashing vouchers. The boy was given $600 from his father to play with, but the total amount he used to play with was $1,640.
A cocktail server did give the boy a soda and a beer that he gave to his father, documents show. So at least the casino was not accused of serving alcohol to someone underage.
Valley Forge Casino did an internal review after the incident. The security officers who failed to correctly run the boy's ID were given final written warnings and all security personnel had to undergo training.

(Prediction Markets) - Kalshi’s Lawyer Goes Hard at State-Regulated Gambling - Josh Sterling, a lawyer from Milbank and former Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) employee, represents Kalshi in its legal challenges to cease and desist letters from gaming regulators in a trio of states. His comments on a panel regarding prediction markets both gave insight into Kalshi’s legal position and ruffled some feathers in a room full of regulators and lawmakers who believe sports contracts are infringing upon their turf.
- “The line is drawn in Section 2(a)(1), Title Seven in the United States Code. It basically says any swap or futures contract or an option that’s traded on a CFTC-licensed marketplace is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the CFTC."
- In regard to the argument that sports contracts violate state gaming laws as they do not meet the definition of a swap, Sterling countered: I don’t think that this courts decide there is no economic line drawing around these contracts at all. It’s not for courts to substitute their judgment about what is speculation or what is hedging, or what’s too much speculation."
- The lone panel member representing the position that it is illegal was Vice President Associate General Counsel for Gaming for the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation Michael Hoenig, who noted that "The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, which is also a federal law, controls gaming activity that occurs on Indian lands per the Indian Regulatory Act, tribes have jurisdiction to determine who gets to operate gaming activity on their lands."
